Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technician Advanced Course
The SRT A starts where the SRT course leaves off. After reviewing core skills we start working in the river environment at night, including night searching exercises. Technical rescues are also a continuing theme for on this course as we learn to rescue victims out of the vertical realms of steep sided river gorges, bridges or flood barriers.
Certified by Rescue 3 International to NFPA standards.
Course duration: 3 Days / 5 Days
The SRT A course has two components Water and Rope.
For the Water component participants must have a current Rescue 3 SRT certification and be over the age of 18. This part of the course is 3 days long.
For the Rope component participants must also have current RRO certification or a suitable equivalent. This part of the course is an extra 2 days. Our open courses only include the 5 day SRT A:W&R advanced course for students who have already attended Rescue 3 SRT and RRO courses.
Course Aims:
We aim to give rescuers a thorough knowledge of swiftwater rope rescue techniques along with self rescue skills in the vertical environment. We also aim to give rescuers a thorough training in the dangers and problems related with night operations around swiftwater rescues particularly with regard to search and rescue at night.
"Very interesting & worthwhile. I am now much more confident to participate in a technical rescue scenario!"
